
Recognized across the Commonwealth since 1986, the Southeastern Massachusetts Arts Collaborative, better known as SMARTS, is a year round non-profit organization dedicated to the arts and creativity. This dynamic multifaceted arts organization provides people of all ages with discipline-based and interdisciplinary training, education and performance experiences.
Celebrating its 25th year, SMARTS
Summer Institute, the flagship program of the Southeastern
Massachusetts Arts Collaborative, offers young people a unique
opportunity to work with some of New England’s finest artists. Open to
children
ages 5-18, the SMARTS Summer
Institute is about ideas, innovative and dynamic thinking and
collaborations. Children explore and learn through process and play in
creative writing, dance, drama, film/video, music, vocal and visual arts
in a camp environment. SMARTS is the only opportunity in southeastern
To further reach our goals, SMARTS provides professional development for classroom teachers, arts teachers, administrators, parents and community members through partnerships with artists in schools, training in the arts, and arts education workshops and seminars. We support internship opportunities, networking for artists, professional development for teachers and administrators, partnerships and alliances with local, regional, and state education and cultural institutions and arts organizations, and strong advocacy for arts education in our schools.
